Peru-Chile Trench

a deep-sea trench in the eastern Pacific Ocean, stretching parallel to the South American continent for about 1,500 km. Its eastern slope is considerably steeper and higher than its western slope. The bottom, level in places, has a maximum depth of 6,601 m.
