Gasanova, Shamama Makhmudali Kyzy
Born Nov. 7, 1923, in the village of Araiatly, present-day Fizuli Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. Specialist in obtaining high harvest yields and twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1947, 1950). Member of the CPSU since 1946.
Gasanova graduated from the Azerbaijan Agricultural Institute in 1966. As a member of a kolkhoz in 1942, she led a komsomol-youth team and gathered 27 centners of raw cotton per hectare on an area of 17 hectares. The Gazanova team gathered 97 centners of raw cotton per hectare on an area of five hectares in 1946, 94.1 centners per hectare on 5 hectares in 1947, and 88 centners per hectare on 12 hectares in 1950.
Since 1953, Gasanova has been chairman of the Pervoe Maia Kolkhoz in Fizuli Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. In 1967 the kolkhoz harvested 35 centners of cotton per hectare. Gasanova was a delegate to the Twentieth and Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU. She was a deputy to the fourth through eighth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, and since 1960 she has been deputy chairman of the Soviet of the Union of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Gasanova has been a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan since 1955. She has been awarded three Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals, and medals of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
