tractor propeller

tractor propeller

tractor propellerAn airscrew or propeller located in front of the engine, which pulls the airplane. It is unlike the “pusher propeller,” which is located in the rear of the wing and pushes the airplane. The tractor propeller “pulls” the airplane through the air, and the thrust bearings in the engine are designed for thrust loads in that direction. Most modern aircraft use this type of propeller because of the unrestricted flow of airflow into the propellers. See also pusher propeller.
