Sokhondo
Sokhondo
the highest peak of the Khentei Mountains in the USSR, in Transbaikalia; located on the upper Ingoda River of the Amur River basin. Mount Sokhondo rises to an elevation of 2,499 m. The broad dome is composed of dacites. The slopes feature cedar and larch taiga to elevations of 2,000 m; higher there are thickets of dwarf stone pine, dwarf birch, and juniper (Juniperus davurka). Placers and high mountain tundra are found on the summit.
