Location:In Port Salerno, on the Intracoastal Waterway, 0.67 miles south of the inlet; accessible only by private boat.
Facilities:Beach, showers, picnic shelter, boat dock, hiking/nature trail, restrooms.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, saltwater fishing, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, wildlife viewing.
Special Features:A 3,300-foot boardwalk on this barrier island leads visitors from the dock through mangrove forestsand coastal hammocks of live oaks, cabbage palms, paradise trees, andwild limes to 2.7 miles of Atlantic beach. In summer months the preserve'sbeaches are an important nesting area for loggerhead, green, andleatherback turtles.
