Shanhaikuan

a city in North China, in Hopeh Province. Port on the coast of the Gulf of Liaotung of the Yellow Sea. Situated in the Shanhaikuan Corridor, at the eastern end of the Great Wall of China. Population, more than 30,000 (1957). Shanhaikuan is served by a railroad station on the Peking-Mukden line. In addition to a plant that produces structural units for bridges, the city has enterprises of the machine-building and chemical industries.
