Aizpute
Aizpute
a town in the Liepāja Raion of the Latvian SSR. It is located on the high bank of the Tebra (a tributary of the Saka, which flows into the Baltic Sea), 48 km northeast of Liepāja. Aizpute has a population of 4,700 (1967) and a metalworking industry. It received its city charter in 1378. It has a castle and a church which were built in the 13th century.
