urorrhodin

An obsolete term for a substance/factor allegedly isolated from the urine of patients with tuberculosis, typhoid fever or other major debilitating illness which, in the presence of hydrochloric acid and potassium nitrate, evokes a pink-red colour change; it is not used in the working medical parlance.
