Location:22 miles southwest of Apalachicola, Florida.
Facilities:Visitor center, hiking trails.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:Endangered red wolves, native to the southeast, are raised on Saint Vincent NWR as part of a recovery program. Wolves are allowed to roam the island to gain "wild experience." They are then transferred to mainlnad wild release sites and captive sites, as needed.
Habitats: 12,350-acre island of open water, wetlands, forest shrub, and sand dunes.
Access: Open during daylight hours; accessible only by boat.
Wild life: Red wolf, bald eagle, peregrine falcon, piping plover, wood stork, American alligator, Eastern Indigo snake, loggerhead sea turtle, gopher tortoise and white-tailed deer.
