Petr Emelianovich Skachkov

Skachkov, Petr Emel’ianovich

 

Born Feb. 1 (13), 1892, in St. Petersburg; died Nov. 8, 1964, in Leningrad. Soviet sinologist; specialist in bibliography, historiography, and the publication of literary monuments.

In 1930, Skachkov became a senior research associate at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. He was the author of the basic Bibliography of China (1932; 2nd ed., 1960), which included books and journal articles on China published in Russian since 1730.
