Petrinenko, Diana Ignat’evna
Born Feb. 8, 1930, in the village of Belousovka, Poltava Oblast. Soviet Ukrainian lyric coloratura soprano. People’s Artist of the USSR (1975).
In 1955, Petrinenko graduated from the Kiev Conservatory, where she had studied voice under M. I. Egoricheva; she did graduate work at the conservatory in 1961. From 1955 to 1958 she was a soloist with the Dumka Choir; she became a soloist with the Kiev Philharmonic Society in 1962. Petrinenko’s repertoire includes romances and operatic arias by Russian, Soviet, and foreign composers, as well as Russian and Ukrainian folk songs; works by Soviet Ukrainian composers occupy a special place in her repertoire. Petrinenko joined the teaching staff of the Kiev Conservatory in 1961. She has performed abroad.
Petrinenko received the Shevchenko State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in 1972 and has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
