Tashkent Agricultural Institute
Tashkent Agricultural Institute
an institute founded in 1934 in Tashkent. Since 1966 it has been located in the village of Ialangach, Ordzhonikidze Raion, Tashkent Oblast. As of 1975 the institute had departments of agronomy, agrochemistry and soil science, fruit and vegetable growing, sericulture, plant conservation, forestry, zootechny, agricultural economics, accounting, advanced training for specialists, and correspondence study. The institute also had preparatory divisions, a graduate division, and a branch at Fergana.
In the 1975–76 academic year the institute had approximately 7,000 students and more than 350 instructors, including 24 professors and doctors of sciences and 170 docents and candidates of sciences. The institute grants the degrees of doctor of sciences and candidate of sciences. Its journal Trudy (Transactions) has been published since 1947. The institute has trained approximately 19,000 specialists since its founding.
