Tashkent State Regional Electric Power Plant

a condensation electric power plant located 4 km north of Tashkent in the Uzbek SSR. The plant’s rated power is 1,920 megawatts (MW), generated by 12 units with a capacity of 160 MW each. The principal fuel is natural gas, with mazut used as a reserve. The water supply is based on a combined direct-flow system and a circulating system that uses cooling towers. Water is supplied by the diversion channel of the Salarskaia Hydroelectric Power Plant.

Construction of the Tashkent plant began in 1961; the first unit began operation in 1963 and the last in 1971. Power is transmitted over high-voltage 110-, 220-, and 500-kilovolt lines to the Integrated Power Grid of Middle Asia.
