Salair Ridge

(sələēr`), range, c.200 mi (320 km) long, E Siberian Russia. Extending along the northern border of the Altai Territory, it rises to more than 2,000 ft (610 m) and forms the western edge of the Kuznetsk Basin; to the south it merges with the Kuznetsk Alatau range. The Salair Ridge has iron, lead, silver, and zinc deposits.

a plateau-like elevation in Kemerovo and Novosibirsk oblasts and Altai Krai, RSFSR. It is bound in the west by the Kuznetsk Basin, approximately 300 km in length, and has elevations to 621 m (Kivda Mountain). The ridge is composed of crystalline limestones, sandstones, tufas, and granites. The gentle southwestern slopes and the smooth surfaces of the peaks are covered principally with aspen-deciduous pine and birch-aspen forests with tall, herbaceous vegetation. On the steep northeastern slopes are birch-aspen, larch, and pine forests and areas of steppe. There are deposits of complex ores.
