Solar Welding
Solar Welding
a means of using the rays of the sun to heat and fuse metals. This is done by focusing the rays in the area to be welded by a system of mirrors or lenses. The article to be welded is placed in a chamber with windows for the beam of light. The main advantage of solar welding is that it is an absolutely sterile process and makes possible the welding of refractory metals. Complexity of the equipment and irregularity of sunshine limit the use of solar welding. It can be used in areas with considerable solar radiation.
