Vuoksa
in Finnish, Vuoksi; a river in Finland and Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR. Length, 156 km, of which 143 km are in the USSR. It issues from Lake Saimaa and flows into Lake Ladoga in two branches. Sections of the river with numerous waterfalls and rapids alternate with sections that form lakelike pools. The mean annual discharge of water in the Burnaia branch is 537 cu m per sec. The river has an abundance of water and many fish. Its upper course crosses the Salpausselkä Ridge, forming the Imatra Rapids (in Finland).
