Salerno, Gulf of

a gulf of the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the Italian Peninsula. It is 30 km long, approximately 60 km wide at the entrance, and up to 490 m deep at the center. The tides are semidiurnal and 0.4 m in height. In the north is the port of Salerno.
