so·le·al line [TA] a ridge that extends obliquely downward and medially across the back of the tibia from the fibular articular facet; it gives origin to the soleus muscle. Synonym(s): linea musculi solei [TA], line for soleus muscle, linea poplitea, popliteal linesoleal line A roughened diagonal line on the posterior surface of the upper quarter of the tibia.
