Protein Feeds

feeds of plant and animal origin with a high protein content. Among the green feeds, the largest amount of high-quality protein is found in the young grass of legumes—from 132 grams (for clover) to 218 grams (for feed beans) of digestible protein per fodder unit. Of the grain feeds, legumes are also rich in protein; one fodder unit of pea grain contains up to 158 grams of digestible protein, beans have 211 grams, and soy beans have 223. There is a great deal of protein in the flour and bran of legumes, in wheat, millet, oil cake, groats, and baking and feed yeasts.

Feeds of animal origin are distinguished not only by richness but also by the high biological value of the protein. Meat meal contains 480 grams of digestible protein per fodder unit, the best varieties of fish meal have more than 600 grams, and dry blood has up to 554 grams.
