Saliany

a city (since 1916) and administrative center of Sal’-iany Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. Landing on the right bank of the Kura River. Railroad station on the Baku-Astara line, 193 km southwest of Baku.

Sal’iany has a cotton-ginning plant, as well as plants producing electric welding equipment and plastic articles and a brewery and soft-drink plant. Educational institutions include an agricultural technicum and a medical school.
