Salk Institute

A biomedical research facility based in La Jolla, California, created 1959/’60 by Jonas Salk, who developed the polio vaccine. The Institute is focused on molecular biology, genetics, neurosciences and plant biology; its strategic research priorities are chemistry and proteomics, stem cell biology, cell biology, regulatory biology, metabolic research, and computational and theoretical biology.
