Trusov, Aleksandr Evdokimovich

Born Jan. 17, 1888, in Borisoglebsk; died Apr. 12, 1919, in Moscow; buried in Astrakhan. Russian revolutionary figure; leader in the struggle for Soviet power in Astrakhan. Member of the Communist Party from 1904.

The son of a carpenter, Trusov worked as a clerk. He took part in the Revolution of 1905–07 in Borisoglebsk and later conducted party work in Kozlov (now Michurinsk), Elets, Astrakhan, and Samara (now Kuibyshev). He was arrested and exiled several times. After the February Revolution of 1917 he headed the Bolshevik faction of the united committee of the RSDLP in Astrakhan, and he became chairman of the RSDLP(B) committee in August. Trusov was an editor of the newspaper Astrakhanskii rabochii, and he was one of the Bolsheviks elected to the Constituent Assembly. After the establishment of Soviet power in Astrakhan on Jan. 25 (Feb. 7), 1918, he became a member of both the committee of the RSDLP(B) and of the presidium of the provincial executive committee. He also served as a commissar of labor and as chairman of the provincial trade union council.
