Reinhold, Otto

 

Born Dec. 8, 1925, in Altrohlau, now Stará Role, Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. German economist (German Democratic Republic). Academician, Academy of Sciences of the German Democratic Republic (1969). Member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (1946) and member of the party’s Central Committee (1967).

Beginning in 1962, Reinhold was director of the Institute of Social Sciences of the Central Committee of the Socialist Unity Party. His research studies were chiefly concerned with crisis phenomena in contemporary capitalist economics, state-monopoly capitalism in the Federal Republic of Germany, the working-class movement, and the economic laws of development of advanced socialist society. Reinhold was awarded the National Prize of the German Democratic Republic in 1965. He was also foreign member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976).
