Tatarskii, Valer’ian Il’ich

 

Born Oct. 13, 1929, in Kharkov. Soviet specialist in radiophysics. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976).

Tatarskii graduated from Moscow State University in 1952. In 1954 he joined the staff of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Tatarskii developed a theory of the propagation of waves of differing physical nature in a randomly inhomogeneous medium, particularly a turbulent medium.
