(rī'tĕr), a complement-fixation test for syphilis using as antigen material prepared from the Reiter strain of Treponema pallidum; the test has been largely replaced in laboratory medicine by the fluorescent treponemal antibody-absorption (FTA-ABS) test (q.v.).
