A disease of young adults, more common in ♀ with irregular bowel habits Etiology Idiopathic, linked to laxative abuse, anal intercourse Clinical Hematochezia, ± accompanied by anal or abdominal pain, passage of mucus per rectum, excess straining on defecation; ulcers ±2 cm in diameter, close to anal verge Treatment Stool softeners; when accompanied by rectal prolapse, rectopexy may be required
