rejuvenating diet rejuvenating diet A generic term for a short (30 days or less), primarily vegetarian diet intended to “detoxify” the body. Such diets are low-calorie, low-salt, high-hydration, and based on organic foods—i.e., without pesticides, preservatives, hormones, antibiotics or artificial dyes. Carbohydrates consist of raw fruits and vegetables, which may be boiled or steamed (not fried); fats include olive, sesame and sunflower oils; proteins are from nuts, legumes, whole grains and low-fat yogurt. The diet is supplemented with vitamins and minerals. |
