Weber-Christian syndrome

A rare idiopathic condition that primarily affects adult females; it is a diagnosis of exclusion.
 
Clinical findings
Crops of subcutaneous nodules on the thighs, abdomen, arms and breasts, accompanied by fever, local inflammation, rheumatic complaints (arthritis, arthralgia, myalgia), hepatosplenomegaly, abdominal pain and episcleritis.
 
Lab
Nonspecific; leukopenia, increased ESR, rheumatoid factor, cryoglobulinemia.
 
DiffDx
Erythema induratum, sarcoidosis, post-injection fat necrosis.
Management
Symptomatic relief with corticosteroids, chloroquine, phenylbutazone.
