an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Provideniia Raion, Chukchi Autonomous Okrug, Magadan Oblast, RSFSR. A port on Provideniia Bay in the Bering Sea, Provideniia is on the Northern Sea Route. It has a tannery and a combine for the production of meat and dairy products.
