StegocephaliaStegocephaliafossil amphibians whose skullcap formed a continuous covering and whose trunk was frequently covered with bony scales. The Stegocephalia lived during the Devonian and Triassic. They were unlike living amphibians, which have smooth skin. However, some of the Stegocephalia, for example, lepospondyls, are more similar to living amphibians.
