Samoilov, Andrei Grigor’evich

 

Born Oct. 17, 1907, in the village of Ishim, Tomsk Oblast. Soviet specialist in metallurgy. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1928.

Samoilov graduated from the M. I. Kalinin Moscow Institute of Nonferrous Metals and Gold in 1935. He is associated with the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Inorganic Materials. His principal works deal with hard alloys based on tungsten carbide and titanium carbide and with materials for nuclear reactors.

Samoilov has received the Lenin Prize and four State Prizes of the USSR and has been awarded the Order of Lenin, three other orders, and various medals.
