Prozorov, Petr Alekseevich
Born June 12 (24), 1899, in the village of Chekoty, in what is now Kumeny Raion, Kirov Oblast; died June 2, 1968, in the village of Vozhgaly, Kumeny Raion. Innovator in kolkhoz production. Chairman of the Krasnyi Oktiabr’ Kolkhoz of Kumeny Raion, Kirov Oblast. Twice Hero of Socialist Labor (1948, 1958). Member of the CPSU from 1926.
In 1924, Prozorov organized an agricultural association in the village of Chekoty, which was later transformed into a kolkhoz with Prozorov as chairman, a position he held until the end of his life. The kolkhoz became one of the leading farms in the country and was awarded the Order of Lenin (1967). Prozorov was a delegate to the Twentieth through Twenty-third Congresses of the CPSU and a deputy to the third through seventh convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR. He was a delegate to the World Peace Congress of 1950. Prozorov was awarded four Orders of Lenin and various medals, as well as the large gold, gold, and small gold medals of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
