Tragelaphini

 

a tribe of artiodactyls of the family Bovidae. The Tragelaphini are close to the oxen and buffalo. Their size may be medium or large. Both the males and the females have horns, which are corkscrew- or spiral-shaped. Grayish yellow and brown tones predominate in coloration, with white transverse stripes on the sides and neck. The Tragelaphini are distributed in Africa. Some live in forests, while others live in the savannah, along rivers and marshes. The tribe includes the common eland, the kudu, the nyala, and the bongo.
