a city in Czechoslovakia, in Východočeský Kraj (East Bohemia), in the Czech Socialist Republic. Situated at the foot of the Krkonoše Mountains, on the Úpa River. Population, 25,600 (1974). Local industries produce textiles, including linen, and glassware. Anthracite is mined near Trutnov.
