Bakhlulzade, Sattar Bakhlul Ogly

 

Born Dec. 2 (15), 1909, in the village of Amiradzhany, now within the city limits of Baku. Soviet painter. People’s Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1964).

Bakhlulzade studied at the Moscow Art Institute (1933–40) under V. A. Favorskii and G. M. Shegal’. He paints large lyrical landscapes, celebrating nature in his native region. His works Gudialchai Valley (1953), Evening Above the Caspian (1959), and Spring of My Homeland (1967) are all in the Azerbaijan Museum of Art (Baku). He has been awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, as well as medals.
