Stepan Georgievich Lianozov

Born 1872; died 1951. Prominent Russian oil industrialist. A manager and a member of the board of directors of more than 20 oil industry and other companies. Lianozov was one of the organizers of the Russian General Oil Corporation (”Oil’ “), founded by the Russian-Asian International Bank and other banks to fight against the Nobel Brothers Company and the Russian enterprises of the British-Dutch monopoly Shell. After the October Revolution of 1917, Lianozov left the country and became an active enemy of Soviet power. He was head of the Northwestern government founded in 1919 in Estonia under general N. N. Iudenich. In 1920 in Paris he joined with G. L. Nobel, P. P. Riabushinskii, N. Kh. Denisov, and P. O. and A. O. Gukasov to create the counterrevolutionary organization called the Trade-financial and Industrial Committee (Torgprom), which was established to protect the interests of Russian capitalists.
