Shevelev, Firs Aleksandrovich

 

Born Dec. 1 (14), 1912, in Moscow. Soviet hydraulics scientist. Doctor of technical sciences (1954); professor (1962). Member of the CPSU from 1940.

Shevelev graduated from the Moscow Construction Engineering Institute in 1937. From 1938 to 1941 and from 1946 to 1954 he worked at VODGEO (All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Water Supply, Sewage, Hydrotechnical Construction, and Engineering Hydrogeology). From 1954 to 1957 he worked in the construction department of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Between 1957 and 1964 he worked at the Academy of Construction and Architecture of the USSR. In 1965 he became director of the K. D. Pamfilov Academy of Municipal Services. Shevelev’s main works are devoted to engineering hydraulics, mainly the hydraulics of pipe systems.

Shevelev has been awarded eight orders and several medals.
