tax certificate
tax certificateWhen a property is sold for delinquent real estate taxes, the purchaser usually receives only a tax certificate. It is not a deed, nor does it transfer title to the property into the purchaser. Rather, it is a right to receive a deed when the statutory time period passes but only if the property owner has not paid all past-due taxes plus interest and costs. |
