Trailer Train

a cab with one or more trailers or semitrailers; in passenger transport, a bus with a trailer.

Compared to a single-motor vehicle, a trailer train has a large load capacity while maintaining maneuverability, clearances, and specific pressures on the road, the upper limits of which are specified by appropriate norms. Trailer trains increase the productivity of labor by a factor of 1.5 to 1.8 over a single vehicle and lower the prime cost of load transportation by 25 to 30 percent, especially over long distances. Trailer trains have unified brake and electrical systems that incorporate special pneumatic and electrical connecting systems. Under poor road conditions, trailer trains with multiple-drive axles are used; that is, the engine torque is transmitted not only to the drive axle of the cab, but to one or more axles of the trailer or semitrailer as well.
