Shikellamy State Park
Location:In both Union and Northumberland counties. Shikellamy Overlook is on US 11, near the town of Shamokin Dam; Shikellamy Marina is off PA 147.
Facilities:Picnic areas, picnic pavilions, restaurant, snack bar, hiking trails (2 miles), bike trail (1 mile), bike rentals, boat rentals, boat launches, marina, playground, observation platform.
Activities:Boating, water-skiing, fishing, hiking, bicycling.
Special Features:Park was named in honor of the famous Iroquois Chief Shikellamy, who played a prominent role in the development of the Pennsylvania frontier in the early and middle 18th century. The park consists of two distinct areas: a large marina that provides access to Lake Augusta; and, across the river from the marina, the overlook section with panoramic views of Packer's Island and the confluence of two branches of the Susquehanna River.
