Titovo Užice

(until 1946, Užice), a city in Yugoslavia, in the Socialist Republic of Serbia; located in a montane basin on the Detinja River, a tributary of the Zapadna Morava. Population, 37,000 (1974). A transportation junction, Titovo Uzice has enter prises of the metalworking, cotton, leather and footwear, and food-processing industries. A large mill for copper rolling and the production of copper goods is located nearby, in Sevojno. Titovo Užice also has a lead-rolling mill. From 1941 to 1944, during World War II, Titovo Užice was one of the chief centers of the national liberation struggle in Serbia.
