verbal fluency task verbal fluency taskAny test in which a patient is asked to name or list as many items in a category as he or she can in a limited period of time, usually 60 seconds. Common tasks include naming all the animals or plants one can think of or saying as many words as one can think of that begin with a particular letter of the alphabet.
