Vir-Tuominen, Marjam
Born Aug. 15, 1919, in the small town of Kuhmoinen, central Finland. Finnish public figure. Member of the Communist Party of Finland since 1946.
Vire-Tuominen graduated from the University of Helsinki in 1946, receiving the degree of master of philosophy. From 1949 she was general secretary of the Supporters of Peace organization of Finland. She has been a delegate to all of the World Congresses of Supporters of Peace; from 1955 to 1969 she was a member of the World Council of Peace. She is a laureate of the International Lenin Prize for Strengthening Peace Between Nations (1966).
