Sandspit Point State Marine Park
Location:12 miles southeast of Seward, in Resurrection Bay at the northeast tip of Fox Island (Renard Island).
Facilities:Undeveloped. Fresh water is not available.
Activities:Primitive beach camping, kayaking, fishing.
Special Features:Park includes steep, inaccessible uplands to the west and a half-milelong spit to the east, with spectacular panoramic views of ResurrectionBay and Eldorado Narrows. The north beach ofthe spit is fine sand, and the variety of marine life found in tidepools there, the ease of launching and landing, and suitability forbeach camping make this a popular destination for kayakers. Thesouthern beach on the spit is not recommended for landings due to itsrocky nature and the often heavy surf.
