[¦sü·dō′vi·trə‚nīt] (geology) A maceral of coal that is superficially similar to vitrinite but that is higher in reflectance from polished surfaces in oil immersion and has slitted structure, remnant cellular structures, uncommon fracture patterns, higher relief, and paucity or absence of pyrite inclusions.
