Tiumen University
Tiumen’ University
a university founded in 1973 as a successor to the Tiumen’ Pedagogical Institute. As of 1975, the university had departments of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, geography, history and philology, Romance and Germanic philology, and economics, as well as preparatory and correspondence divisions and a graduate school. There are 37 subdepartments, a scientific research division, a computer center, an agrobiology station with a botanical garden, and a library with about 350,000 volumes. In the 1975–76 academic year, the university had more than 4,600 students and about 400 instructors and research associates, including 12 professors and doctors of sciences and 140 docents and candidates of sciences.
