Remontant Plant

Remontant Plant

a plant that blooms and bears fruit two or more times during a vegetative period. Remontant plants include some citrus crops, ornamental shrubs (perpetual rose, hybrid tea rose, several species of spirea), berry crops (several varieties of raspberries and strawberries), and herbaceous plants (perpetual begonia, ageratum, alyssum, lobelia). Remontant plants have a very short period of dormancy, and, therefore, they bloom repeatedly over a long vegetative period. Repeated blooming and fruiting are very rarely observed in cherries and pears. Remontant plants have small flowers and fruits, and their seeds have poor germinating ability.
