Sutkovtsy

Sutkovtsy

a village in Iarmolintsy Raion, Khmel’nitskii Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located in Sutkovtsy is the stone Pokrovskaia Church (1467), a characteristic example of church architecture adapted for defense. The central square structure is adjoined by four large apses in the form of towers with loophole embrasures. The massive walls, narrowly splayed embrasures, and large projecting machicolations give the small structure a severe, monumental character.
