Remote Control Channel

 

a combination of devices used to transmit remote control, telemetry, and remote signal information between distant transmitting and receiving points. The remote control channel is a variety of communication channel; it consists of an information source (transducer), a coding device, a transmitter, a communication link, a receiver, and a decoding device. It is usually designed on the multichannel principle; that is, it is made up of several channels. Information is transmitted over such a channel only after preliminary processing, encoding, and modulation, especially when there is interference. The information is recovered at the receiving end by decoding or demodulation. The coded (modulated) information in the form of discrete or continuous signals is transmitted over radio channels, wire lines, or relay links.

An example of a remote control channel is the system, with signals transmitted by radio, for artificial earth satellites and unmanned lunar stations.
