Ship’s Details

the general name for some components of a vessel’s hull equipment, for parts of a ship’s gear, and for the equipment of its inner spaces and open decks. The term applies to shackles, ring bolts, turnbuckles, hawseholes, bitts, scuttles, companion hatch coverings, ship’s ladders, doors, portholes, and rail and awning stanchions.
